✨Polyamourus Earth-Ship Homestead Dream✨

Had polyam pack dream where I was partners with [my girlfriend & two of my close friends]- it was really soft and comfy- we had an earthship homestead and chickens and a permaculture food forest garden in the back yard, we grew our year round food needs and tropical plants in the greenhouse.

It was a MASSIVE earthship. It had seven bedrooms, a few miscellaneous rooms, a sun room, a huge social area connected to the kitchen, with a conversation pit off to the side.

There were also windmills and solar panels and we always had enough power to also have modern appliances with it all, though we didn't often use the tv or computers cause we just enjoyed our time taking care of the homestead, ourselves, and each other.

On the ground floor was the social area, kitchen, misc. room, two half bathrooms, and one bathing area connected to the greenhouse.

The kitchen had an extensive pantry and cellar. And you could get to the salt therapy cave through the cellar.

One of the misc. rooms was a dedicated library and study area with two leather lounge chairs and a study table with wooden chairs.

There was a huge bathing area connected to the green house that was filled with plants and moss. It was part of the filtering system and the water from it would go to the greenhouse and water the plants.

Upstairs there were bedrooms, two of the misc. rooms, and the three full baths.

There were four 'master' style bedrooms that could fit a queen. [My girlfriend & two friends] held ownership of three of them and decorated them accordingly.

There was a ~massive nesting room~ with a round bed a bout the size of an Alaska King and it was basically just pillows and comfy with candle nooks and only a few bottle lights- it was a cuddle cavern. I usually slept in here under a mountain of pillows. Sometimes the others would join.

There was another much smaller nesting room that had a small common area and three bunk-like floor nests big enough for two maybe three people snuggled together with all the bedding. They had shelving around the entrances in the main area, and some inside the walls of the house, and privacy curtains.

And then there was the bunk room where there were twelve sleeping platforms like bunk beds built into the walls of the place, with mattress' on top. They also had shelving, under drawers, and privacy curtains.

One of the other rooms was made into an art studio cause it had great lighting and ambiance. I was in there a lot painting and crafting things.

Another held all my belongings, it was close to the nesting room. About the size of an office, it had my clothing and accessories, as well as shelfs upon shelfs of my collections(mostly rocks and knickknacks) as well as a comfy massive papasan chair.

I don't know what the last room was as the door was closed.

The sunroom popped out of the roof like a glass bubble- there was a spiral staircase to get up to it, and there were floor cushions and a futon as well as chimes and plants. It was a spiritual area- [close friend] and I did meditative yoga up there every morning.

It was so cool. We would sometimes let people B&B there with us-

There were also wooden cat bridges and stuff stretched out and paths built between walls inside for the cats to travel and run and lounge.

Lots of colourful bottle light, adobe/cob walls, drift and barnwood accents, comfy woven blankets, etc.

Absent-Minded Sims have a 10% chance to forget their food in the oven, BBQ or microwave. You might have to monitor them when they use these appliances. Of course, it has no effect if free will is disabled.

Natural Cooks will never burn food or cause a fire when cooking (unless their action gets cancelled).

Clumsy Sims have more chance to burn food or cause a fire when cooking (+10%).

In an unmodded game, the chance to burn food depends on the Sim's cooking skill and the food complexity. It can be from 5% for skilled Sims, 30% for food that Sims just unlocked or 10% for food they learned 1 skill point after. Clumsy Sims have +10% more chance and Natural Cooks have 0% chance. Even if a Sim has both the Clumsy and the Natural Cook traits, the chance to burn food will be at 0%.

There’s also a file named clumsy_moreChanceFlambeFail. If you install it, clumsy Sims have a higher chance to drop the food and burn themselves when lighting the flambé on a Baked Alaska or Crêpes Suzette (20% after the initial “chance to burn food” check). They better have a fire alarm or a sprinkler before doing that, especially if they are alone! Sims with both the Clumsy and the Natural Cook traits will still have the 20% chance.

Way to waste a day and feel utterly useless.....

Fail to fall asleep until about 4am, and then get up at 11:30 am after only four non-consecutive hours of sleep.

Have incredibly flat feet that you use a ton, and find that you are starting the day in so much pain the ankle brace barely helps. 

Start coffee making, only to discover  and hour later that the machine isn’t working. 

Be using the last of the “fancy” coffee you’d been saving, which now is a wet mess with no coffee to show for it,

Have the light in the living room fail to turn on, and be over the hole in the floor so you can’t stand in a chair and reach it.

Realize you forgot to take out the trash last night, so now you have to wait a week.

Discover your pet pig has killed his ball because breakfast was late, and you just bought it two weeks ago.

Try to call Mom and discover your phone doesn’t work. Since the land line phone is from the 1980s it’s too glitchy to use either. The only other way to contact her is to text your brother, who probably wouldn’t relay the message to her.

Try to figure out what to work on. Realize most tasks involve buying something first, and you can’t do that today, or need to be really dry, and it rained yesterday. 

Look at the “to do” list again and get overwhelmed by how long the damn thing is and how half would be “urgent” for normal people. Ignoring  anything that would take help or several days still leaves a LOT.

Finally have “breakfast” at 1:30pm. Realize you have accomplished nothing but feeding yourself and the animals. 

Decide to wash the dishes. You haven’t done them for four days, so I guess there are enough to count as “getting something done”.

I wish I had a life like ordinary folks.

 Their homes tend to be mostly intact, they have an array of appliances that mostly work, they can find someone to hire for jobs they can’t handle, or they can just buy something new.

Heck, normal folks have little things like family, friends, jobs, social lives...

 It must be nice to feel needed and wanted, to know you are expected or missed somewhere. It must be lovely to have places to go and things to do that aren’t just about survival. 

Imagine getting to grumble because a party or wedding or vacation or whatever has had to be put off because of Covid-19! I got to go to a formal wedding once, when I was 12, and I attended the court house wedding of my brother, but that’s it. I think my last party was when I was 13 and I threw it, but no one invited me to theirs. I never get asked to join in. 

I should feel lucky, I guess. The world has changed for most people, but not for me. I’m missing nothing I wasn’t missing before. I’m coping the way I always cope, trying to keep my life endurable as the infrastructure of that life collapses around me.

 Like, if you lived survivalist style in the middle of the wilds of Alaska, would the zombie apocalypse make a damn bit of difference to your day to day life?

I’d offer to take bets on what around here is going to break or fail next, but TBH I don’t have many left. Hell, even this iPad keeps glitching! LOL

Sorry, I’m just really tired right now. Part of me doesn’t even want to bother trying today.

AI chip startup Mythic, which closed its doors in November after running out of funds, has reopened for business following a $13 million investment from existing and new investors. Co-founder Dave Fick has moved into the CEO position; he was previously CTO. Former CEO Mike Henry has left the business, the company told the press today.

Mythic's technology is based on analog compute-in-memory technology, using an array of Flash transistors. The idea is to use the Flash transistors as variable resistors in an analog computing scheme, which requires driving the transistors at 265 sub-threshold levels (for 8-bit compute). This requires significant calibration and compensation schemes, which is where a large part of Mythic's secret sauce is. Analog compute is appealing since it can offer very low power, fast computation for matrix multiplication in AI inference at the edge.

The company previously released two products, the M1108 and the M1076. The M1076 is a 25 TOPS (INT8) edge chip with a power envelope of 3 W, designed for video analytics. Latency for YOLOv5 was 33 ms. At the time of launch, Mythic told EE Times that the M1076 was getting traction in video surveillance, industrial machine vision, drones and AR/VR applications.

"Mythic has already seen strong demand for the M1076, so we're confident that our next-generation processor will be widely adopted in computer vision applications like smart robots, security cameras, drones, and AR headsets," Mythic's CEO Dave Fick said in prepared remarks released today. "The potential for analog computing is truly limitless."

Mythic also said today that the M1076 had been shipping to customers, including Lockheed Martin.

"At Lockheed Martin Ventures, we want to take smart risks by investing in advanced computing capabilities that our customers can adopt and expand to outpace complex threats within a rapidly evolving landscape," Chris Moran, VP and general manager of Lockheed Martin Ventures, said in prepared remarks. "As geopolitical tensions continue to rise, it is imperative that we continue to work with our customers in identifying their needs and supporting companies that can scale technologies that keep the U.S. and its allies in front of those threats."

Fick plans to bring to market a next-gen product, the M2000. While details are scarce so far, Mythic has said the M2000 will build on the legacy of its first-gen products and it is planned for production next year. Fick has restructured the company and plans to remain capital efficient by keeping development in-house with a "tight-knit team," according to the company.

Mythic was founded in 2012 by Fick and Henry as a spin out of the University of Michigan.

Mythic previously raised $165.2 million before closing its doors in November last year. Today's $13 million round of investment came from existing investors Atreides Management, DCVC and Lux Capital, plus the British VC firm Catapult Ventures and the Austrian firm Hermann Hauser Investment.
